Having been diagnosed with ampilliary cancer I was referred to Mr Satyadas who performed a whipples procedure. The surgery was completely successful with no complications or infections. Mr Satyadas and his team are second to none. He included my family every step of the way and personally contacted myself and my husband on numerous occasions after my discharge from hospital. He is a kind, compassionate, professional, highly skilled surgeon and I will be forever grateful for the care I have received.

I had the good fortune to be referred to Mr Thomas Satyadas during a very difficult/scary time in my life and felt calmer and more hopeful following consultation with him. Thomas has a very caring, kind and compassionate personality and I felt extremely grateful to be in his care during initial investigations. Thomas arranged with his team at The Christie for tests to be carried out at very short notice, and thus was able to come up with a diagnosis and a treatment plan has now commenced. I would not hesitate to recommend Thomas, and should I need to be referred back to him in the future, I would feel I was in very safe hands. Thank you to Thomas and all of his excellent team!

If you are "fortunate" enough to be in the position that Thomas Satyadas is your surgeon then count your blessings. This man is the most thorough and most respected liver and pancreatic surgeons you would ever come across. It is a horrible feeling being told you have pancreatic cancer and also liver cancer and my husband would not be alive today without the infinite knowledge and skills of this man. He is just as caring and attentive both before, during and after the procedure. He explains everything in detail and under his care, you can have the utmost confidence. His team also follow in his footsteps and he will always make himself available if you have questions. His after-care 6 years on is just second to none and you know with him behind you, you are in the safest hands. He makes you feel like you're his only patient!

I can’t thank this man enough - he saved my life, as far as I am concerned. That is what I tell people when I recall what happened. Thomas carried out a liver resection on me in November 2012 following an initial discovery of 9 liver cysts and then crucially, 2 large Hepatic (biliary) cystadenomas - these being “rare multilocular cystic tumors of the liver”. As I understand it, Hepatic cystadenomas are benign tumors, but they have a high rate of recurrence and a potential for transformation to being malignant in approximately 10% of cases. The diagnosis was very quick and although initially it was suggested that the situation may be resolved with keyhole surgery, after further examination it became very clear that I needed fairly urgent major open surgery to achieve a substantial Liver Resection at the age of 51 when I considered myself to be healthy, active and fit. This whole situation was such a massive shock to me and at a time when I was also going through a major personal/emotional upheaval in my life. Considering the sensitive nature of my personal circumstances, Thomas was incredibly professional and empathetic. Everything was explained to me with a reassuring calmness and clarity, even as the diagnosis appeared to be getting worse. I can only echo the comments of other patients, in that the care he provided and the treatment I received was outstanding. He visited me daily when I was in hospital and called me at home daily when I was first discharged giving me the most incredible, immeasurable support, comfort and courage at a time when I felt so alone and helpless. I have had regular MRI scans with decreasing frequency over the subsequent years but continue to be under his care, which is very reassuring. He is an amazing surgeon and a wonderful compassionate and dedicated man. So, I never find it difficult to put into words how I feel about Thomas, I trusted him with my life and still do and can never thank him enough. I would most definitely recommend him to others.
